Robocup 2010
CCF were given a very warm welcome to Prenton High School in the Wirral, where they competed with over 20 other schools for the title of UK Schools Robotics Champions and a chance to represent the UK in the World Robocup finals. CCF were hoping to steal the glory on the back of their recent 2nd place in the London finals.
Representing CCF were:
Shervin Sabeghi, Isaac Rudden, Hameed Khandahari
Nikunj Pindoriya, Vinesh Khetani, Hamid Khandahari
Omar Essilfie-Quaye, Gabriel Kassayie, John-Antonio Argyiadis
The competition was very tough, with many robots failing to score points at all in either the morning or afternoon sessions.
In the morning session both CCF teams failed to get around the course and they faced the challenge of redesigning the robots in under 2 hours before the afternoon session.
However all the hard work was finally rewarded with the ‘Shervmobile’ scoring enough points to allow CCF to secure 6th place in the junior league table and 9th place overall.
Says Mr Terruli: ‘To break into the top 10 teams in our first year of trying is an amazing achievement, considering we started from scratch only 8 weeks ago. I’d like to thank these boys for all their effort and for giving such a great impression of the school.”
The school team is now setting its sights on next year’s competition as well as the London Finals.
If pupils are interested in programming robots they should contact Mr Terruli by emailing adt@ccfplus.com
We also need any Lego blocks, plates or Lego Technics which pupils can donate.
